Romsey District is organising a Winter Camp for the Scouts in our area just outside of Winchester at Pinsent Campsite on 19th Feburary to 21st Feburary.  This camp is a fun involved camp with lots of Activites organised on the Saturday followed by the Sextant Navigation Trophy on Sunday around the local area.  The cost of the Camp is £25 which includes all camp fees, activites and food.

It will be on a first come first served basis so if you are interested in going to this camp then please fill in the forms that have been provided at Scouts before Christmas and on Monday and return them to Skip ASAP.

This is the first time we will have been to this camp for a number of years and also the first time that we have entered the Sextant Trophy for a number of years.  Over the next couple of weeks we will be doing some Maps and Compass to help with this.

You can download the form form here.

    Troop Night

    Troop Night

Last night was our first night back after the Christmas break, where we welcomed two new cubs to our Scout Troop.  To break everyone in we did a games night this week, a leisurely start to the new year with some old classics and some new games as well.  To start the night off since there was alot of new faces last term and some new ones this term we played autograph bingo.  This involved the scouts talking to each other to find some facts about each other and writing there names on the bingo cards, points were given out for achieving horizontal / vertical / diagnal lines as well as a BINGO.

This was followed by an old favourite of giant table football, which involves all the scouts in pairs and teams trying to score a goal using the ropes that are laid across the hall.  It was a closely fought battle between the reds and the yellows, with the reds just managing to score that all information goal.

After table football was a new game to the troop involving memory and tactics.  Keeping the same teams as the table football everyone was sat in a circle.  The aim of the game was to move 4 team members on to the couch.  Sounds easy, however each person choose a name from a hat that they were from that point onwards.  This meant that to move a player you had to learn who they were.  The game was a well fought battle between the reds and the yellows, with the reds leading at the beginning but the yellows started to close in on them by the mid point.  After 30 minutes time was running short and which meant we had to call it a day with the Reds having 3 people on the couch and the yellows having 1.

The final game of the night was hockey run by two of the patrol leaders, again against the reds and the yellows.  Unfortunately I cannot remember the final score on the hockey.

Hopefully everyone enjoyed the games evening, next week is Indoor caving.
