Baddesley Common in the Sunshine
Filed under: Troop Nights; This weeks Scout meeting was slightly different from normal weeks, instead of meeting at the Scout hut we all meet up at Emer Close on the edge of Baddesley Common for a walk. The Scouts arrived at 7pm wearing neckers only, it was a lovely Summers evening with the sun shining and it nice and warm.
We set off at 7.10pm crossing the road to head pass the Glifford offices down a small path and head out over the fields before reaching the common. We crossed the common arriving at Green Lane in double quick time, turning right following the road for alittle bit before rejoining the footpath just after going under the railway line. After crossing the railway line and a ford we end up back at Emer Farm at 8pm. With another hour to go we decided to head for Emer Blog. Crossing the farm land heading towards Emer Blog, it was time to break out the refreshments of small bags of Haribo!
As we headed pass Emer Blog, which was looking very dry the sun was getting lower and lower in the sky. As we head up pass Emer Blog towards the farm on the outskirts of the Village near St Johns Church. After reaching the church everyone was getting abit tidied, but there was not much further to go, we were almost on the home straight. Arriving back at Emer Close at 8.55pm. Well done to all the Scouts that came along it was a lovely evening walk and I hope you all enjoyed it. Have a look at the route we took here:
Final distance was 4.37 Miles.
See you all next week

The Pulborough trophy has finished for another year and 15th North Baddesley Scouts came in a fantastic 12th place. In the Ian Grainger Trophy they came a brilliant 5th.
I hope all the Scouts enjoyed the camp and learnt alot. Thanks goes out to the organising team of the camp and the catering team for keeping the leaders feed.
Thanks also to my Scout Leadership Team without them over this last week I think I might have gone mad with the organisation. They put in alot of hours getting the camp prepared. Thanks to the parents and leaders for helping put equipment away after the camp.
Next year i think we should be looking for a top 10 position :-).
Finally just a few pictures I didn’t upload over the weekend.

It’s been a manic couple of hours with lunch and striking camp to be done. With 30 minutes to go before the trophy presentations every pitch is a hive of activity.
All but two tents are done so it looks like most are going to finish with time to spare.

It’s almost time to strike camp with breakfast fading into the best and with two more judging sessions down the competition is almost over.
It’s a gloriosly sunny June morning with the temperature rising. The ian granger trophy is just been judged with a number of differnent playground pieces equipment around site.
The last judging session is the final campsite inspection. So bot long to go now before a hot bath and some well earned rest.

It was a slow morning this morning with all the patrols needing a wake up call. Everyone has had a lovely warming breakfast that has been judged, with pancakes and pasteries in some of the patrols.
It’s almost time for flag break with the sun shining on the flag pole it’s just a shame about the clod wind whipping through the campsite.
Three more judging sessions to go and then the competition is over with the presentation happening at three thirthy this afternoon.

The day is coming to an end with the sun setting beyond the horizon and the whole camp gathered around the camp fire keeping warm. Singing great camp fire songs.
The trading post camp was a manic hour of scouts trying to get as much money as possible doing silly things. How long can you hole a bean can? Can you eat 4 crackers in under a minute? Can you do a reef knot? How do you deal with an unconscious person? The winning patrol got £1010 (fake money!)
It’s been a long day with all the scouts gaining skills and meeting new and old friends.
Finally day tomorrow, with breakfast and the site inspected. Hopefully everyone will sleep alittle longer tomorrow!
